General Description: 

Under the supervision of the Building Principal, the digital learning specialist will serve as the school building’s instructional technology coach and information specialist.  The Digital Learning Specialist also works cooperatively with the Director of Digital Learning to help implement the system-wide technology plan.

Qualifications:

• Preferred dual Massachusetts certification as Library Media Specialist and Instructional Technology.
• Competency in both print and non-print materials and educational technology
• Experience in school media services, library automation and integrating technology.

As the School Building’s Instructional Technology Coach, the Digital Learning Specialist:

• Teaches students research and information access skills; literature appreciation; library skills; media production use; critical thinking and problem solving skills pertinent to the information and digital literacy curriculum

• Promotes and advances the integration of technology into instructional delivery, leading to enhanced student utilization and improved student achievement.

• Provides training and support to faculty and students as new technology is acquired.

• Maintains currency in the collections as new print and non-print resources are added to the library’s collection.

• Provides reference services to faculty.

As the School Building’s Information Technology Specialist:

• Works cooperatively with the Director of Digital Learning to provide students and faculty with access to print, media and technology resources, including:  books, periodicals, audio-visual hardware and software collections, and library databases.

• Supports and models effective technology integration ensuring its use as an essential instructional tool.

• Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Evaluated by:  Building Principal, with appropriate input by the Director of Digital Learning
