Andover Software Support Specialist

SYSTEM-WIDE

1.0 FTE

(37.5 hours per week)

 

 

DEFINITION

Under the direction of the Director of Digital Learning and working collaboratively with the Andover Application Team and other technology staff, the Software Application Specialist maintains and updates application software to meet the needs of the District’s end-users; provide technical support to building-based administrators and staff and resolve District or school site operational issues.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

Function as the School District’s help desk by supporting end users; identify issues and propose solutions. Respond to inquiries for the purpose of solving problems, providing information and/or providing direction as may be required.

 

Assist end-users by developing user guides to assist in the understanding of computers (e.g. understanding error messages, removing temporary files, defragmenting disk, etc.) in order to control expenses related to the maintenance of computer equipment within the district.

 

Establish and maintain student and staff accounts (e.g. library, databases, and software application accounts) for the purpose of providing access, maintaining security and ensuring compliance with district policies.

 

Prepare written materials (e.g. procedures, instructions, memos, letters, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference and/or conveying information.

 

Assist in training district and site staff on software applications, primarily related to Internet or Intranet related applications (e.g. e-mail, student data management software applications, website development, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring their ability to use new and/or existing software.

 

Create and modify reports, procedures and data import/export for all administrative software applications.

 

Keep users notified of changes and/or updates to the current student management record system.

 

Performs all other related duties as assigned.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

 

Ability to read and understand software documentation, to develop instructional materials as needed, to conduct training programs in the use of software applications.

 

Ability to work cooperatively and harmoniously with many individuals of varying backgrounds and to handle information professionally and confidentially.

 

Ability to organize tasks into a logical and purposeful sequence. Provide problem-solving initiative; and cultivate resources.

 

Thorough knowledge of computer systems and common software applications such as such as Microsoft Office, Excel, Access and Database software. Familiarity with implementing and maintaining custom software applications.

 

Ability to teach employees in the use of computer equipment and software applications.

 

Excellent interpersonal skills, with a focus on motivational skills and a positive attitude.

 

Ability to present ideas in business friendly and user friendly language.

 

Ability to absorb new ideas and concepts quickly.

 

Highly self-motivated and directed.

 

Good analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.

 

Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

 

Very strong customer service orientation.

 

Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

 

Education and Experience:

 

Post high school education in computer and software systems; Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred and 3-5 years experience in a similar role.
