MUSIC THEATRE DIRECTOR

The purpose of the Music Theatre Program is to supplement the Fine Arts curriculum at the high school and provide extra-curricula programs for students in the music and theatre area. The program will provide one major production during the spring semester and should provide as many students as possible with the opportunity to sing, dance, act, work on production and develop as many areas of professional and community theatre experience as possible.

The Director must have had experience in and be able to develop the following specific areas where students will receive training:

3. Set Decoration

C. Stage Crafts

2. Costuming
3. Makeup

ASSISTANT MUSIC THEATRE DIRECTOR

The Assistant Director of the music theatre is responsible to the Broadway Music Theatre Director and the Fine Arts Program Advisor.


BAND DIRECTOR

QUALIFICATIONS:

l. Must have Music Education degree (instrumental emphasis).

2. Familiar with both corps and Big Ten marching techniques.

3. Experience teaching marching band and/or drum and bugle corps.

REQUIREMENTS:

l. Must attend Wednesday afternoon and Thursday night rehearsals.

2. Attend Saturday rehearsals.

3. Attend all games.

4. Attend all marching band functions (games, parades, competitions, pep rallies, etc.).

5. Willing to make extra rehearsals if needed.

6. Assist in the actual show design.

REPORTS TO: The band director will be responsible to the Fine Arts Program Co-coordinator.


ASSISTANT BAND DIRECTOR

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must have instrumental background.

2. Familiar with both corps and Big Ten marching techniques.

3. Knowledge of all instruments.

b. bass clef and treble clef

4. Knowledge of the instrumental score.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Must attend Monday and Wednesday night rehearsals.

2. Attend Saturday morning rehearsals and all games.

3. Attend all marching band functions.

4. Willing to make extra rehearsals if needed.

5. Assist in the actual show design.

6. Able to take charge if band director is ill or in case of emergency.

REPORTS TO: The Assistant Band Director will be responsible to the Fine Arts Program Coordinator and work directly with the Band Director.


COLOR GUARD INSTRUCTOR

To instruct flags, rifles and any other non-instrumental band personnel in the proper fundamentals of marching and maneuvering necessary to properly perform the drill design and to revise and refine, when appropriate, as the season progresses.


DRILL DESIGNER/MARCHING AND MANUVERING INSTRUCTOR

RESPONSIBILITIES:

A. To design the drill formations for the entire band and color guard for the football/competition season (approximately 8 l/2 to l0 minutes in length). This drill design is specially written with the abilities and experience of the Andover High School students in mind and is in a style that is compatible to the best contemporary bands and/or Drum and Bugle corps.

B. To instruct the band and color guard in the proper fundamentals of marching necessary to properly perform the drill design, and to revise and refine the drill (when appropriate) as the season progresses.


PERCUSSION INSTRUCTOR

To instruct the percussion line in playing, marching and maneuvering necessary to properly perform the drill design and to revise and refine, when appropriate, as the season progresses.


STRING ENSEMBLE DIRECTOR

Recruit, rehearse and conduct beginning, intermediate and advanced string ensembles, as well as all-town orchestra.

Give frequent, appropriate performances to showcase the above groups.

Organize, inventory, select and purchase music for all of the above organizations.


HIGH SCHOOL DRAMA COACH

Under the general direction of the Fine Arts Program Advisor and the principal of the high school and in connection with the manager of the Collins Center, the drama coach will be responsible for:

- casting and directing two drama productions, one to be presented in the fall and the other to be entered in the one-act Scholastic competitions in the winter/spring.

- scheduling appropriate meetings and rehearsals.

- organizing publicity, tickets, costuming, staging and lighting and anything that directly relates to the success of the dramatic productions.

- communicating bi-weekly all aspects of the production process to the program advisor and principal.

- keeping club budget updated and in the black.


ASSISTANT HIGH SCHOOL DRAMA COACH
