Elementary Art Teacher

Permanent Substitute (February - April, 2017)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Under the direction of the principal and the fine arts program coordinator, the art teacher will teach elementary classes as scheduled, will co-ordinate art with other curricula, and will be involved with all schedule exhibits.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Massachusetts certification in area of art.

2. Demonstrated successful teaching in elementary art.

3. Demonstrated thorough knowledge of elements of art and successful techniques with emphasis on two-dimensional products in all media.

4. Demonstrated successful teaching techniques in clay, sculpture and textiles.

5. Demonstrated successful techniques in integrating art program into the curriculum of other disciplines.

6. Ability to communicate articulately and cooperatively with teachers, parents, and administrators.

7. Knowledge and sensitivity to successfully mainstream the learning disabled.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Conduct art classes as scheduled.

2. Provide clear written plans on a weekly basis.

3. Report on pupil progress through student report cards and student analysis sheets to principal-program advisor.

4. Include sculpture, weaving and clay, along with two-dimensional activities.

5. Articulate interdisciplinary art program with other cooperating teams.

6. Be involved with school and community activities and exhibits.

7. Implement art curriculum. Report implementation to the principal and program advisor as directed.

SALARY: According to the Andover Education Association Collective Bargaining Agreement
